President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige has heard rumors about it the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universeand he is not very concerned.
Feige told ET’s Ash Crossan during the Tuesday premiere of The miracles that he’s not interested in delving too far into the future when it comes to the current phase of the MCU.
“The miracles comes out on Friday and the finale of Loki is this Thursday. Those are two huge things [right now]the studio director said. “These two projects that will be revealed to fans in two days represent about five years of work, from about thousands and thousands of people. So for me that’s the focus.”
The upcoming movie stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Iman Velani as Kamala Khan / Ms. Amaze and Teyonah Parris as Captain Monica Rambeau. In typical Marvel fashion, little is known about the film’s plot beyond what’s shown in the trailers. The film follows the trio as they face off against the main antagonist, Dar-Benn, played by Zawe Ashton, attacking all the planets they call home. To complicate matters further, an encounter with a wormhole causes the trio to begin randomly swapping powers and locations.
As with all MCU features, The miracles – directed by Nia DaCosta – is the culmination of many stories; the Secret invasion final also set some details for The miracleswhen a new human-Skrull alliance was reluctantly formed between MI6 agent Sonya Falsworth (Olivia Colman) and G’iah (Emilia Clarke), the daughter of Talos, Nick Fury’s late boyfriend. (And don’t forget the first Captain Marvel movie showed us that Monica and G’iah used to be friends!)
We also saw Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) return to space with his wife Priscilla (Charlayne Woodard), who now goes by her Skrull birth name Varra, as the Kree are apparently open to peace talks – although Dar-Benn’s vendetta seems to question that.
Feige notes that the film’s far-reaching storytelling, and the franchise in general, is “part of the fun” that he hopes fans focus on more than just what everything is. could be mean.
He says: “I mean, everything is a building block in the wider story – that’s just part of the fun. But really it’s the fun of the movie. The movie has a beginning, middle and an end. And what Nia has So long, so hard worked on with Brie, Teyonah and Iman, represents years of really hard work. And it’s this experience and the enjoyment of this film that I want people to focus on.”
Of course there are options for that The miracles could lead to something Feige is vocally excited about, the eventual introduction of more mutants – specifically the X-Men – following the reveal at the end of the Vellani-led Disney+ series, Ms. Marvel.
“The X-Men are a solid, rich, and great concept… The return of the animated series [X-Men ’97] next year – which we’re really excited about and I saw some new final episodes today that really bring you back to the core of who the X-Men are and the soap opera these characters represent,” Feige told ET.
And when it comes to seeing those super-powered beings in live-action?
“People will see it. Maybe soon,” the Marvel director teases.
When it comes to the celebrity cameos that Marvel has become so good at, Feige is coy about what’s to come. After Harry Styles stunned fans with his performance in the Eternals post-credit scenethe studio head says anything is possible regarding his return.
“He’s excited, we’re excited, [so] we’ll see,” Feige says of the GRAMMY-winning pop star. And about the rumors about it Taylor Swift could be appear in Deadpool 3 as the mutant Dazzler? Feige just laughs.
Fans will have to wait to see what the future holds for the MCU. In the meantime, they can get “higher, further, faster.” The miracles will be in cinemas from November 10.
